Adventures in Night Travel, Rescued Food, and Budget Computing

August 30, 2024 - Scott Hewitt

Hey there, fellow night owls and thrifty adventurers! Today, I want to chat about three seemingly unrelated topics that have been rocking my world lately: travelling at night, Too Good To Go, and hunting for budget-friendly low-power computers.

First up, let’s talk about the magic of night travel. There’s something incredibly serene about hitting the road when the rest of the world is fast asleep. The streets are empty, the air is cool, and it feels like you’re in on some secret adventure. Whether you’re road tripping or catching a red-eye flight, night travel has this unique ability to make you feel like you’re suspended in time. Though everynow and again you get a road closure and a big delay!

A new favorite app: Too Good To Go. If you haven’t heard of it, you’re missing out! It’s this genius platform that connects you with local restaurants and cafes that have surplus food at the end of the day. You get to rescue perfectly good grub from going to waste, all while snagging a fantastic deal. I’ve discovered some hidden gems in my neighborhood and tried dishes I wouldn’t have ordered otherwise. It’s like a surprise party for your taste buds, and you get to feel good about reducing food waste. Win-win!

Lastly, let’s geek out about budget-friendly, low-power computers. In a world where tech seems to get more expensive by the minute, there’s something satisfying about finding a capable machine that won’t break the bank or your electricity bill. I’m talking about mini PCs with N95 internals. Am testing one with Windows at the moment and then will try a Linux install.

So there you have it – my current obsessions with night travel, Too Good To Go deals, and budget computing. Who knew saving money could be so much fun? Stay thrifty, my friends!
