Git Ignore and other projects

January 24, 2025 - Scott Hewitt

Someting I learned this week is that you can set a user wide git ignore file.

The file should be located here

~/.config/git/ignore

on OSX it is worth adding

.DS_Store

That way the .DS_Store files won’t be added to the git repos.

Also this week,

Donald Trump is back in the Oval Office. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that politics just got terrifyingly exciting again. This political rollercoaster is just getting started!

My discussion-based Bible studies have restarted. After a bit of a hiatus, we’re back to digging deep into scripture, sharing insights, and growing together. There’s something incredibly grounding about coming together to discuss faith and life.

Let me mention my latest venture—The Edge of Education podcast! Our first episode is live, and I couldn’t be more excited. Whether you’re a teacher, a student, or just someone who cares about the future of education, this podcast is for you. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. I promise it’s not just me rambling on (well, maybe a little bit).

Last but not least, Future Fireside has restarted. Every week, we gather to discuss all things future—from technology and innovation to societal shifts and beyond. It’s like a mini think tank, but with more laughter and fewer suits. If you’re into pondering what the world might look like in 10, 20, or even 50 years, this is the place for you.

And teaching starts next week.
