So with new found love of podcasting I have launched two more weekly podcast firstly the Huddersfield Whats on Podcast a weekly guide to events and gigs in Huddersfield UK. This has proven to be a lot of fun and very enjoyable to do I never realised how much stuff happens until I went looking for it.

You can check the podcast out here, though even better why not subscribe to it.

Another podcast I have launched is This Weeks Rant with Mihalis Santamas which combines my love of podcasting with politics and arguing. Again you can check it out online at http://thisweeksrant.co.uk/.

To make podcasting easier I needed a more flexible microphone stand so after trip to IKEA and a bit of hacking I have made this.

Don’t forget to check out the podcasts.

An exciting new project under way theaudiopodcast.

A weekly podcast about audio technology and technique hosted by Samuel Freeman and Scott Hewitt.

The first podcast is available online at www.theaudiopodcast.co.uk and features a discussion about the state of audio on the web and the use of headphone amps in drum kit recording.

If you are interested in being on the show or have any suggestion why not drop a line to podcast@theaudiopodcast.co.uk .

Have been looking into others forms of improvisation to complement my musical activities.

This coincided with a multitrack recording of a HELOpg rehearsal. I decided to combine the two activities together is this improvised video created live while listening to the HELOpg recording.

So this year I have decided to launch a number of new projects of the course of the year, not that I am loosing focus with ongoing projects just that I have a number of projects that I have been sitting on for a while and I would like to get going on them.

The first one to see fruition has been the creative report project where I intended to interview a whole series of people regarding creativity, its role in their life, society and them approaches to creativity.

You can see the first interview with Adam Jansch below.

If you what to keep unto date with the Creative Report you could follow the blog or the youtube playlist.

If you would like to be interviewed as part of the project please email me or twitter @creative_report.

Well 2010 resulted in another conference publication at ICMC New York HELO: The Laptop Ensemble As An Incubator For Individual Laptop Performance Practices .

The continuation of the Huddersfield Experimental Laptop Orchestra and the further development of HELOpg. Also an exciting development was the establishment of ialo.

Also livecoding.co.uk was launched this year to help create an easy to use record of livecoding.

The inclusive improv continued with the improv sessions, Week of Speakers, iigigs and was fortunate to be awarded funding from the PRS for Music Foundation. It also organised the 2010 Creative Pact project.

In 2010 I created a Facebook like plugin for dokuwiki which has seen some use and also started using Git code versioning.

Finally I failed to maintain my this weeks portrait project as a weekly activity but did manage 16 entries. More importantly this project has made me realise how much I enjoy photography so I hope to continue this portrait project on.

And of course the PhD continues but is now heading to its conclusion.

One exciting feature of the year was the use of web analytics’s from that I can tell that the various websites had over 5700 visitors in 2010.

So with that I sign off online for 2010 however there is of course a 2011 project The ‘Creative Report’. I hope to interview creative people about their approaches and methodology throughout 2011 so if you would like to be interviewed please let me know.

All the best and a Happy New Year

Scott
