Well today was the first day of the unConf which was interesting and featured some exciting discussion and exchanges. You can see a list of proposed topics from today on the unConf site.

So sound checks underway in the graduate going ok though we had a DI box explode which was exciting.

So now its off to the first afternoon of the ICMC unConf.

So after all the planning the first day actually arrived.

The main thing I was involved in was the Inclusive Improv unConf gig in the Graduate Bar.

The gig saw The Monotron Syndicate, Sam Freeman, Pat Allison, Richard Glover, Joe Kudirka and Scott Mc Laughlin perform first with an incredible evolving pad and texture and some cool lighting.

HELOpg in a much depleted form, myself, Sam Freeman and Sam Birkhead performed along side some Monotron players in a rather disappointing performance mainly due to a difficult in interacting with the Monotron but also due to a catastrophic cable failure mid performance.

Finally Ben Issacs, Joe Kudirka and Pat Allison took the stage in a improvised performance using a variety of instrument which for me was the highlight of the evening.

And that was a day 1 photos to come later.

So today was a rest day from ICMC setup as we managed to get the venues sorted ahead of time.

So instead I cooked a whole load of meals for the week, including half a pork leg, a Bolognese, and some breaded chicken. I hope this preparation will help me avoid eating takeaway every night.

Damon Lee joined me for Bolognese and was great to catch up on old times. We then watched Cloverfield with some beers which turns out to be a Godzilla movie.

So the pre ICMC blogging is done and looking forward to the conference itself.

The first thing I am directly involved in is the unconf gig, Sunday evening featuring performances by Huddersfield based performers starting after the formal concert.

Hope to see you there.

So completed the setup of the graduate with staging, and audio all set just lighting to sort out Sunday afternoon.

Was interesting looking through the riders, took me back to my old live sound days. One of the most interesting things about these kind of gigs is the variety of different setups in them.

Is also interesting comparing the different stage and technical approaches against not for profit and for profit organizations. I suspect I will have further comment about this at the end of the conference.

T-1 is a day off so I will have something else to blog about tomorrow.

Meanwhile I have enjoyed watching Bladerunner and the new season of Torchwood.
