Photos @ Inclusive Improv

Enjoyed another Inclusive Improv session this week and did not even played just listened.

However it did remind me that I really need a fast long focal length as 50mm just was not long enough.

You got to come see HELO

HELO (Huddersfield Experimental Laptop Orchestra) has just confirmed its first ever gig as part of the HCMF Revolutionaries project.

Laptop Revolutions

8pm @ Café Ollo, The Media Centre, Northumberland Street, Huddersfield

HELO and friends, Adam Jansch, Sam Freeman and Tom Mudd, will be performing a variety of works exploring laptop ensemble playing, bounded improvisation and interpreted scores.

I have the great privilege of directing HELO so it would be great to see alot of folk there supporting the group.

More info here.

and just one more thing - about the new MacBooks

So since the Intel switch I have recommend the Apple MacBook as the best choice laptop for all sorts of situations.

It still offers a stable, Tier 1 build quality, the advantages of the OS X, the 'i' apps and looks good.

However with the new release models there has a been a number of significant changes and not all for the best.

The Firewire 400 ports have been removed from all the laptops and only a single Firewire 800 port remains on the MacBook Pro.

In terms of music production this is a major problem as compatibility has been lost with many pro-grade soundcards for the MacBook such as the MOTU 828. Its also bad news for video people as well.

At the moment I am not sure what to suggest; the MacBook Pro is more expensive and is bigger mmm I will have a think.

You can find the MacBook specs at http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html.
