Scott Hewitt Blog Archive 2010
Well 2010 resulted in another conference publication at ICMC New York HELO: The Laptop Ensemble As An Incubator For Individual Laptop Performance Practices .
Also livecoding.co.uk was launched this year to help create an easy to use record of livecoding.
The inclusive improv continued with the improv sessions, Week of Speakers, iigigs and was fortunate to be awarded funding from the PRS for Music Foundation. It also organised the 2010 Creative Pact project.
In 2010 I created a Facebook like plugin for dokuwiki which has seen some use and also started using Git code versioning.
Finally I failed to maintain my this weeks portrait project as a weekly activity but did manage 16 entries. More importantly this project has made me realise how much I enjoy photography so I hope to continue this portrait project on.
And of course the PhD continues but is now heading to its conclusion.
One exciting feature of the year was the use of web analytics’s from that I can tell that the various websites had over 5700 visitors in 2010.
So with that I sign off online for 2010 however there is of course a 2011 project The ‘Creative Report’. I hope to interview creative people about their approaches and methodology throughout 2011 so if you would like to be interviewed please let me know.
All the best and a Happy New Year
Placed the PhD write up under Git version control this weekend to provide history, versioning and redundancy of the write up process.
Went for Git due to the ease of setup; just
in the appropriate folder and also due to some intrest in looking at flashbake.
Will also give me an opportunity to play with Git on OS X.
Also looking forward to the first inclusive improv session in the Cellar Bar at the Lawrence Batley.
Presentation at the Leeds RMA
Holiday time is upon me and for once Im going to try and have a real holiday; ok so I going to take my laptop with me but only so I can Facebook my holiday pics.
However it does seam a good moment to review on the last few months and give your all something to check out while I am away;
My portrait project continues though I have found it impossible to do one a week just been to busy.
www.livecoding.co.uk continues to go from strength to strength
My Facebook dokuwiki plugin has seen some use.
The next set of inclusive improv projects are being planned and I am happy to report that it is far to big for me to look after it all any more. One really cool project is the #creativepact
Finally I have been able to establish the International Association of Laptop Orchestras (IALO) with the aim of providing a centralised reference point about laptop orchestras.
So see you when I get back
So if you are a DokuWiki user you might find this interesting.
Is a dokuwiki plugin which makes it easy to include Facebook box comment and like plugins on a dokuwiki site quickly and easily.
How easily you just need to type or and the syntax plugin does all the rest of the work.
Is my first ever dokuwiki plugin I have released publicly so expect a couple of quick revision after I get some feedback.
Hope people find it useful and if you don’t know of Dokuwiki it is an easy to use powerful wiki platform that does not need a SQL database.
So allowing my distractions to overwhelm me I have started two new blogs.
The first one blog.inclusiveimprov.co.uk is the blog for the inclusive improv. Will be a mix of improv related things, admin for ii stuff and hopefully an easier way to communicate. It will also generate a better kind of rss feed than the wiki site.
Also supporting a wiki is the new blog for livecoding.co.uk you can read it at blog.livecoding.co.uk. Intend it to be a blog about live coding in general with some reference to the live coding videos on the site. Incidentally if you have not checked out livecoding.co.uk you should do.
And as exciting as all that is after deciding not to establish my own form of currency I have another project for the rest of the week. More on that soon.
